151st MDA President Installed

Dr. Michael Berry was installed as the 151st president of the MDA on November 9 at the Association’s House of Delegates.

berryDr. Michael W. Berry, a general dentist from Moberly, Mo., was installed as the 151st president of the Missouri Dental Association (MDA) on November 9, 2018 at the Association’s House of Delegates. 

As MDA president, Dr. Berry will preside over each quarterly Board of Trustees meeting, but also travel the state representing the MDA at various component meetings and at events of other dental stakeholder groups. The MDA president also serves as an ex-officio member on the Missouri Dental Insurance Services Board (the MDA’s wholly-owned insurance agency) and as a voting member on the MDA Foundation Board (the MDA’s charitable arm). 

Dr. Berry received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1987 and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biologic Studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1983. He is a 1979 alumnus of Salisbury High School in Salisbury, Mo. He has been in private practice at Moberly Family Dentistry since 1988. 

Leading up to this office, Dr. Berry has been a member of and served his local, state and national dental organizations in a variety of manners, including: American Dental Association Delegate; Missouri Dental Association President-Elect, Trustee and Delegate; and, Northeast Dental Society President and Secretary/Treasurer. He is Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an honorary dental organization that recognizes excellence in the dental profession. Dr. Berry also is on the Leadership Council for Missouri Donated Dental Services, a program that provides free, comprehensive dental treatment to vulnerable people with disabilities or who are elderly or medically fragile. 

Dr. Berry’s community involvement includes being a member of St. Pius X Church in Moberly, where he is involved with the Knights of Columbus and has served the St. Pius X School Foundation; service to the Randolph Area YMCA; and, participation in the Moberly High School Booster Club.

Dr. Berry and his wife, Marcey, have three adult children, Taylor, Callan and Hayden.
